Cinematic Black Bars

Cinematic black bars, also known as letterboxing, are the horizontal black bars that appear at the top and bottom of a widescreen movie or video when it is displayed on a screen with a different aspect ratio. The purpose of the black bars is to preserve the original aspect ratio of the film and to prevent cropping or stretching of the image.

Cinematic black bars provide a solution to this problem by preserving the original aspect ratio of the film while displaying it on a screen with a different aspect ratio. The black bars appear at the top and bottom of the screen, creating a frame within a frame, and allowing the entire image to be displayed without any cropping or stretching.
